The book “Olga Visentini: Belfiore” (Il Cartiglio Mantovano) edited by Monica Bianchi is more than the story of the historical events that actually happened in Belfiore in the Italian Risorgimento, since it is a collection of essays that accompany Olga Visentini’s novel, on the one hand leaving the writer’s emotions and involvement intact, but, on the other hand, rearranging the story, clarifying some obscure or misinterpreted points.
In fact, the text, in addition to re-proposing Visentini’s novel, supports the narrative with critical and chronological essays about the reconstruction of the facts thanks to the accurate re-reading of documents and letters.
It also makes use of a graphological and philological reading of the documents analyzed to provide a more complete argument and also a proposal for in-depth analysis of events that have characterized the strength and desire for freedom of a people in an era of harassment and prostration.
The attached prints are also very beautiful, which help not only to understand the philological and historical reconstruction work, but also involve the reader in the analysis of the real documents, making him a participant in the events.

Il libro “Olga Visentini: Belfiore” (Il Cartiglio Mantovano) a cura di Monica Bianchi è più del racconto dei fatti storici realmente accaduti a Belfiore nel Risorgimento italiano, poiché è una raccolta di saggi che accompagnano il romanzo di Olga Visentini, da una parte lasciando le emozioni e il coinvolgimento della scrittrice intatto, ma, dall’altra, riordinando la Storia, chiarendone alcuni punti oscuri o male interpretati.
Il testo, infatti, oltre a riproporre il romanzo della Visentini, sostiene la narrazione con saggi critici e cronologici circa la ricostruzione dei fatti grazie alla rilettura accurata di documenti e lettere.
Si avvale, inoltre, di una lettura grafologica e filologica dei documenti analizzati per fornire una più completa argomentazione e anche proposta di approfondimento di eventi che hanno caratterizzato la forza e la volontà di libertà di un popolo in unìepoca di vessazioni e prostrazioni.
