Testimony is not a trivial matter. It is not an abstract, even if grammatically it appears so; it is not a simple sound to fall back into the void. Testimony is the impact that everyday impresses on our thinking as well as on our senses and emotions. Witnessing is choosing whether to stand by to watch or to embody what one has witnessed.
In reality, we are all witnesses, without exception. Exclusion from testimony, that is, its refusal, does not make us less witnesses, but only less responsible and more traitors of the reality.
The value of testimony, then, is in its responsible exercise and practice, it is in the assumption of commitment towards the other, it is in the awareness that turning your face away does not make us less witnesses, but only more false and liars.

Testimonianza, non è un argomento di poco conto. Non è un astratto, anche se grammaticalmente così appare; non è un suono semplice da far ricadere nel vuoto. Testimonianza è l’impatto che il quotidiano imprime nel nostro pensiero oltre che nei nostri sensi e nelle emozioni. Testimonianza è scegliere se stare a guardare o incarnare quello cui si è assistito.
In realtà, siamo tutti testimoni, nessuno escluso. L’esclusione dalla testimonianza, cioè il suo rifiuto, non ci rende meno testimoni, ma solo meno responsabili e più traditori rispetto alla realtà.
Il valore della testimonianza, allora, è nel suo esercizio e pratica responsabile, è nell’assunzione di impegno verso l’altro, è nella consapevolezza che il voltare la faccia dall’altra parte non ci rende meno testimoni, ma solo più finti e bugiardi.
