Will there be time to build peace? And yet, every moment is that time, it doesn’t matter if we will be the first users. We should stop thinking of time as something that belongs only to us and that we feel entitled to use and abuse. That time that passes for us leaves deep furrows in the time of those who accompany us, those who follow us and those who come after us. The universality of every single person is not given by the time destined for his life, but by what he knows how to carve meaning in the history of others by offering the fruits of his life.

Ci sarà il tempo per costruire la pace? Eppure, ogni istante è quel tempo, non importa se ne saremo i primi fruitori. Dovremmo smettere di pensare al tempo come a qualcosa che appartenga solo a noi e che ci sentiamo in diritto di usare e abusare. Quel tempo che per noi passa lascia solchi profondi nel tempo di chi ci accompagna, di chi ci segue e di chi viene dopo di noi. L’universalità di ogni singola persona non è data dal tempo destinato alla sua vita, ma da quello che sa scolpire di senso nella storia degli altri offrendo i frutti della propria vita.
