I think it is an awareness that we are losing, as if the life that “happens” does not belong to everyone, but to the individual who enjoys his own individualism. Not so, the life of the other is part of our life and ours belongs to the other. We can pretend not to submit to this rule, but it manages us anyway, because the good and the bad of the life of the other is a good and a bad that falls on our existence despite our apparent impermeability and vice versa.

Credo sia una consapevolezza che stiamo perdendo, come se la vita che “accade” non appartenesse a tutti, ma al singolo che gode del proprio individualismo. Non è così, la vita dell’altro è parte della nostra vita e la nostra appartiene all’altro. Possiamo fingere di non sottoporci a questa regola, ma essa ci gestisce comunque, perché il bene e il male della vita dell’altro è un bene e un male che ricade sulla nostra esistenza nonostante la nostra apparente impermeabilità e viceversa.
